Cameron and Sonia Norvell
Cameron and Sonia enjoy raising two wonderful children and ministering with The Navigators at Texas A&M. Sonia grew up in the Rio Grande Valley with Roman Catholic roots. Her faith blossomed before high school as she embraced a personal relationship with God by placing her faith in Christ. Cameron’s faith grew as a student at Texas A&M when God used a group of Navigators to help him develop a true walk with Christ. They have both been active in Grace Bible Church since they were married and moved to Aggieland in 2001. Besides directing the ministry and discipling students, they enjoy fishing, disc golf, and spending time with people.
During his junior year at Texas A&M, Robert listened to a debate between Christians and Atheists that changed his life. After much internal debate and hearing Navigators testimonies, he started following Christ. Two years later, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and immediately joined staff with The Navigators. One thing he loves about his job is explaining Scripture to help students work through questions and overcome obstacles. Robert also likes competitive board games, ping-pong, and ultimate frisbee.
Samara started believing in Christ at a very young age, as she grew up attending church and being taught the Bible. However, she was especially impacted by The Navigators while she attended Texas A&M as a student. During this time, she began to learn how to walk out her faith daily and experience true growth in her relationship with Christ by following the example of the woman on staff who met with her weekly. When considering what to do after college, it didn’t take long for Samara to decide to go on staff with The Navigators so she could continue to do what her mentor did for her for other women. Samara absolutely loves helping students discover for themselves what the gospel of Jesus means for them and their identities, as well as apply what the Bible says to their daily lives. Samara also enjoys baking, arts & crafts, volleyball, showing people pictures of her dog, and spending time with her husband, Austen Parker.
